Senior Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend services using TypeScript (Node.js).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability of backend services.
• Write clean, well-tested, and documented code.
• Develop and maintain APIs (RESTful/GraphQL) for internal and external consumption.
• Implement security, authentication, and authorization best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Review code & support team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 3 years using TypeScript/Node.js.
• Solid understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and designing efficient schemas.
• Strong knowledge of API design (REST, GraphQL) and integration patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, etc.).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile environment.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of message queues / event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Exposure to serverless architectures.
• Prior experience in mentoring or leading a team.
