Job Overview And Responsibility

ImportGenius is seeking an AI Engineer to unlock the immense potential of our global trade datasets—some of the most timely and impactful information in today’s geopolitical and economic landscape. Our data captures critical insights into worldwide supply chains, tariffs, and trade wars - from investigating Russian sanctions compliance to the flow of AI microchips and fentanyl precursors, to helping exporters find new customers, to unmasking forced labour in global supply chains. In this role, you’ll collaborate with seasoned domain experts, dev teams, and product leaders to design and implement advanced AI features - from integrating models into pipelines for data enrichment to shipping LLM-powered features and applications to empower laypeople to interact with complex data. You’ll also help shape an emerging culture of innovation, bringing fresh perspectives to our AI processes and roadmap. ● Design and develop LLM solutions from conception to deployment ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement AI solutions for business challenges ● Integrate LLM’s with data pipelines and ensure efficient processing ● Design and implement AI assistant integrations using APIs for ChatGPT, Claude, OpenRouter, etc. ● Develop prompt engineering strategies and optimize LLM interactions for specific use cases ● Design evals and monitor production AI systems for quality and efficiency. ● Implement best practices for model versioning, testing, and deployment ● Document technical specifications and maintain comprehensive system documentation ● Stay current with the latest developments in AI technologies and methodologies

Required Skills and Experience

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. ● Demonstrated experience creating LLM-powered applications ● Around 5 years of relevant experience (including research, side projects, etc.) ● Strong programming skills in Python ● Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles ● Experience in emerging AI/ML technologies ● Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and MLOps tools ● Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
