Software Engineer, Zig - AI Training
Alignerr.com, operated by Labelbox, is seeking a freelance expert in systems programming to contribute to the development of AI-generated code aligned with the Zig programming language. This is a remote, 1099 contract role with flexible hours and compensation ranging from $15 to $150 per hour depending on skills and location. You'll review and improve AI-generated Zig code, identify logic flaws, and articulate your decision-making process to help create safe, performant, and idiomatic code.
Candidates must be fluent in English and have demonstrated expertise in Zig programming, including memory management, error handling, and compile-time evaluation. A background in systems programming (3–5 years preferred), along with a degree or coursework in Computer Science or a related field, is required. A deep interest in AI, compilers, or low-level software is highly valued.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in their country of residence; no sponsorship or employment documentation is provided. This is not an internship. International students may apply depending on their visa and tax conditions.

About the Role
Shape the future of AI — with Zig! As an AI Tutor - Zig, you’ll use your systems programming expertise to improve AI-generated code and ensure it aligns with Zig’s safety, performance, and low-level control goals.
Your Day to Day

Review Zig code for memory safety, correctness, and idiomatic use of language features.

Solve complex systems-level problems using Zig and explain your process.

Identify and correct flaws in AI output or unclear logic.

Summarize your approach and decision-making clearly and concisely.
About You

Fluent in English with strong writing and communication skills.

Expertise in Zig: manual memory management, compile-time evaluation, error handling, and concurrency.

3–5 years of experience in Zig development or systems programming is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing one) in Computer Science or related field. Master’s or PhD preferred.
