Lead .Net Engineer
Socium – Teams Done Differently, a management consulting firm based in London, is hiring a remote Lead Engineer to oversee a major legacy system deprecation and migration project. This full-time contract role is ideal for candidates located in Southeast Asia working in alignment with UAE hours. Reporting to stakeholders across engineering, product, and support, you will lead a small team to rebuild customer support plugins, decommission old UI and databases, and migrate capabilities to a modern support platform. The role offers a collaborative, cross-functional environment focused on Agile methodology and monthly milestone delivery.
Candidates should bring at least 5+ years of experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager, with a background in system migrations and working in distributed Agile/SCRUM teams. A solid understanding of C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Git, AWS, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL is required; familiarity with Lambda and Kubernetes is a plus. Strong communication skills and stakeholder coordination are essential for success in this role. You should also have experience mentoring engineers and managing project priorities across teams.

About the Project
We’re looking for a Lead Engineer to oversee the deprecation of a legacy backoffice system and the migration of its features to a modern platform. This tool is used by customer agents and internal teams across multiple business units. The project involves rebuilding several core plugins, retiring the current UI, and removing all dependencies from a legacy database.
You’ll lead a small engineering team and work closely with product, engineering, and operations stakeholders to deliver monthly milestones. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with experience in leading cross-functional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full migration of backoffice functionality to a new support platform
- Lead the development of customer support plugins and internal tools
- Decommission the legacy UI and eliminate reliance on the central database
- Coordinate delivery across engineering, product, and support teams
- Ensure transparency through JIRA and Agile workflows
- Support and mentor two engineers, plus one senior engineer
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager
- Strong background in backend and frontend development
- Proven success leading migration or deprecation projects
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience delivering in Agile/SCRUM teams in distributed environments
