Sweed, a fast-growing remote-first startup in the cannabis retail space, is hiring for a B2B contract role to lead their eCommerce product domain. The role centers on architecting and scaling backend services in a high-performance, microservices-based environment. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving innovation and performance improvements across Sweed's enterprise-grade platform, which combines POS, eCommerce, marketing, and inventory tools. Compensation is provided in USD, and benefits include 100% remote work, flexible hours, 20 vacation days, medical coverage, and equipment reimbursement.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of experience in product-led technology companies, with strong expertise in .NET 7, microservices architecture, and real-time high-load systems. Familiarity with RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and gRPC is highly valued. A deep grasp of algorithms, distributed systems, and system design is essential. Sweed is looking for team members who are proactive, adaptable, and capable of critical thinking in a fast-evolving industry.

Team Structure

Our total team size is over 200 people:

The development team is distributed globally and organized into cross-functional product teams. These teams typically consist of 8–12 members, including front-end and back-end developers, QA specialists, and analysts. Each team is led by a Team Lead and a Product Owner, ensuring effective collaboration and clear direction. Meanwhile, our CEO, account managers, and customer success team are based in the USA, working closely with us to align product development with business and user needs.

Our tech stack: .NET 7, ASP.NET Core, microservices, gRPC, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, EF Core, Dapper, RabbitMQ, Redis, SignalR, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Git, GitLab.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Designing and developing services within our microservices architecture

  • Participating in discussions and task planning with the team

  • Refactoring code to improve performance and maintainability

  • Conducting code reviews and ensuring best practices

Challenges You’ll Tackle

  • Scaling the system to handle a 10-20x increase in load

  • Optimizing performance at every level of the tech stack

  • Implementing a modern cloud architecture with gRPC

  • Integrating ClickHouse and building a multi-level caching system

  • Exploring machine learning applications within the platform

What We’re Looking For

  • 5-7 years of experience in a product company

  • Strong knowledge of .NET 7 and microservices architecture

  • Hands-on experience with high-load, real-time applications

  • Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB

  • A solid understanding of algorithms and system design

  • Knowledge of ClickHouse or other analytical DB will be a plus
